Antoine - Living In Colour

19/11/2020

Antoine effortlessly slides through with an honest recall about  the tiresome struggle of being BIPOC on the ServidSounds produced track, Living In Colour.

Melodically rapping about his own experiences over Meyne Wyatt's soul penetrating monologue on racism, Antoine gives listener's insight into the everyday brutal reality that BIPOC face on his recent release.

Living In Colour is an educational listening experience for those who are unaffected by the cruel reality that Antoine has experienced.

Cruel and confronting, he recounts numerous occasions where he was belittled, racially profiled and downright disrespected due to 'Living In Colour'.

"I wanted people to understand the simple, day to day events of racism that happen to BIPOC on a regular basis.
That if you’re someone not affected by racism, you would never see or think about or think it's a big deal. But the truth is,
it is a big deal and it’s something that can only be fixed by getting those types of people to listen and understand" - Antoine.

Fading out echo's of 'that's life', Antoine reminds us all that ethnic discrimination is still alive and breathing however, it is our duty as humans to be proactive, to think twice, to understand the shoes that BIPOC walk in, and to flip the script of racism being normal and apart of life, on it's head!

"I have to be exceptional, I mess up - I'm done, there's no path back for me, theres no road to redemption. Being black and successful comes at a cost, you take a hit whether you like it or not"- Meyne Wyatts.

Freedom is not selective, nor should it be a privilege.
Freedom should be the norm.

With a summer bop on the way, Antoine has a lot more in store for his listeners, follow Antoine on the gram to be the first to be notified of his upcoming releases and follow our Spotify playlist to stay in the loop.

"That’s exactly how they make you think speaking up as a black kid,
That’s only one instance,
So many more that I’ve faced,
I try suppress so many things,
Believe the worlds a better place,
My silence has been violence,
So I’ve tried to educate,
Only to have the feels of isolation thrown back in my face".
