Dxpe - Duality (Young Soul)

MEMPHIS, USA

With his soul somewhere between rachet and righteous, the moon and Mars, DXPE explores the line of transparency between the polarities of energy with his track Duality, featuring Young Soul.

Combining sharp enunciations with an articulate flow, DXPE and Young Soul are unreluctant to divulge both saint and sinner over a peculiar sound that emulates their prevalent essence. Prioritising peace over chaos and patience over impulse, they deliver a subtle reminder, in DXPE's case the wolf didn't die; it was solely kept to the side.

"Well, the project is, in a sense, a therapy session, at the very least. Duality introduces who I am and where I’m from, but I'm trying not to become a product of my environment in its totality. So a piece of me is embracing the toughness and abrasive nature that my hometown, Memphis, TN, instilled in me while also trying to navigate a better route since I was able to leave and experience more. I also included my boy and well-known artist Young Soul on the track because even though he’s from the completely opposite side of the city from me, he has a similar story, so I envisioned it in an 'A Tale of 2 Cities' sense, even though we’re from the same city." - DXPE

DXPE walks through a watering hole of self that connects values and reflects on experiences as the beat, produced by Wav, drips with syncopative mystery. While seeing his worlds merge and then morph, he dodges gunshots and catches stars with a flow that is lightly reminiscent of Big Sean. The additional synths offer an experimental component and an eerie yet lull auditory illustration of the nature of Duality.

"My boy June Wav produced the track a couple years ago when I purchased it from him. It initially sounded like a techno-trap type beat, so I didn’t know what to do with it at first until I started making GONE 4 THE WINTER EP and took a leap of faith to write to it." - DXPE

DXPE's album GONE 4 THE WINTER is out now and available on all streaming services. Visuals for the project are in the works, so stay balanced while we wait patiently and tap into Duality (link below).
