Adrian Swish - Get That

30/1/2020

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

Adrian Swish is casting a spell on all the Cinderellas with this hot, off-the-drop, Spanish guitar-influenced summer track Get That featuring rapper Mkada.

Written, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Adrian Swish, he has taken the self-made status to a whole other level with this track.

Get That was born after Adrian Swish was feeling very inspired after a Masego concert.

"I went home and jumped straight into the studio; the process overall was very organic." - Adrian Swish

As a result, we witness alluring vocals by Adrian Swish over a flirtatiously summery beat complimented by Burn City rapper Mkada's husky flow. The authenticity of the musical process contributes to the effortlessly appealing delivery of the track.

His interest in music and his rise to "self-made" status started with family; his aunty is a singer/songwriter who wrote original music, his uncle was a gospel singer, and his father would play the guitar while singing Elvis songs around the house, exposing Adrian to music at a young age. It would seem that Adrian Swish was always destined for music.

"Being around that energy all the time, I had an interest, and I always had one question: how is music made/recorded?" - Adrian Swish

His aunty showed him the ropes, and once high school hit, he had a friend in year 8 who produced music on FL Studio. Adrian got his hands on the disc to install it, and ever since that day he has kept learning how to make beats.

Swish has got the juice! His determination, endurance, and need to always elevate are what will place him amongst his peers in music.
Get That featuring Mkada is now available on all streaming services, so go get that!

Amber Ryann - Happy You Came Around

23/1/2020

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

We were not ready to share her euphonious sound with the world yet.
IYCM doesn't gatekeep, but we wanted the magic she oozes all to ourselves for a moment.

However, holding artists hostage is not how we do things over here, so without further ado,
we introduce
Amber Ryann to the rest of the world with her track, Happy You Came Around.

Amber Ryann produced, composed and wrote Happy You Came Around, alongside her co-writer Sol.
Then Jack Heidelman jumped into the process to mix it, with Dave Fore mastering it, and it's safe to say the end product is straight-up dream team antics.

Her intention when writing Happy You Came Around was to create something that resonated with her genuine personal truths.

"I thought of all the tribulations I’ve gone through regarding my mental health and my battle with depression throughout my life. The song addressed the people in my life who came around when I needed them most, even when I wasn’t much fun to be around, even if I just wanted to stay inside and watch movies." - Amber Ryann

It felt like a significant risk to release such raw yet relatable content, she recognised that perhaps someone else out there needed to hear this to feel better, which is what drew her to music in the first place—the ability to make a difference in someone's life.

"Growing up listening to so much music that I could relate to made me feel a lot less like I was all alone in this world sometimes." - Amber Ryann

Happy you came around is three minutes and twenty-five seconds of pure honesty and vulnerability, It gives the listener a glimpse of the mind's roller coaster ride while battling depression. It speaks of the loneliness, the void, and the unworthiness one can feel, but then there are moments when you reach the surface to take a gasp of air, and someone comes around, and you are exposed to the light, the brief yet powerful feeling of happiness, and this is what keeps you going. Amber Ryann we are happy you came around!

Readers are sure to jump onto her EP, A Call To A Friend, which sonically coincides with Happy You Came Around. Stay in the Amber Ryann loop with upcoming events on her Instagram (@ryanbreezy).

Buddy Ryan - Figured I

16/1/2020

VIRGINIA, USA

Figured I hit my block, figured I hit my spliff, Buddy Ryan figured he'd hit the IYCM team with some gritty flavour.
Growing up in Middletown, Connecticut, and now based in Melbourne, Buddy Ryan is an artist you don't want to sleep on.

Spilling lyrics like a chocolate swisher full of gas, Buddy Ryan playfully flexes on his track Figured I featuring Mike Wang. Written by both Buddy Ryan and Mike Wang and produced by Gumz, Figured I came about as Buddy was about to wrap up in the studio; he found the beat and the hook came to him instantly. As soon as the hook was completed, Buddy called Mike and told him about it; the rest was easy.

"I wanted to make something you could mob to while riding around the city." - Buddy Ryan

Figured I emits that vibe, it's brassbound, ferocious and presents a slightly distorted sound.
Coming from a family tree full of musicians, Buddy Ryan's exposure to the music scene started at a very young age. He was drawn to music due to his appreciation and love for words, ultimately becoming that guy who loved language, arts, and poetry classes in school.

He considers himself more of a songwriter than a rapper, but due to genre limitations, hip-hop is where you can say exactly what you mean, and that is where his artistic flow is fuelled.

Whether you're sitting in a recliner or dipping in a phantom, Figured I appeals to both occasions, so press play and keep up to date with Buddy Ryan on Instagram.

Peter Labeaud - Chances

9/1/2020

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

It's 2020, and she wants to go and party while Chances by Peter Labeaud is on repeat!

Produced by Cyht, Peter delivers his message in Chances with a Kendrick-inspired flow that constantly switches up, keeping the listener on their toes.

Growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, Peter Labeaud didn't start writing seriously until his senior year of high school. His passion for music stems from his early childhood when he was intrigued by how an artist could lay down a story within a three-minute time frame, which could then travel through time and across the world. When Peter started looking around, he realised that there was more for him in the world and that he could change lives by expressing how he felt through his mic. He prompts the listener to take more chances in their everyday lives because you never know if you'll get another chance to chase what you want.

Written by Peter Labeaud and Mehkai Orion, Chances tells the story of wanting to be with someone but being too afraid to approach them. On the flip side, the person in question is also trying to take a chance on meeting someone new but is haunted by their attachment to their significant other. Essentially, they're fighting between letting go or staying to work things out.

Finishing off with a hint of an Aaliyah sample with her track ‘Are you that somebody?’ Chances reveal the constant cat-and-mouse chase between the two individuals while exposing the thought process of the chaser who is consciously aware that tomorrow isn't promised, in a nutshell, Chances is all about taking a chance towards someone before it's too late.

With a library of music, it's no surprise that Peter Labeaud has a plethora of tracks available for listening to; you'll want to check out his other track, "There's Gotta Be More," which is well worth a listen.
