Cheryll - Crushin' (Lauren Marshall)

30/9/2020

What happens when the flow of the 90's meets with LA's classic West Coast sound?
You get Cheryll's latest single, Crushin' featuring
Lauren Marshall.

Cheryll's velvety vocals and Lauren's no sweat flow makes for a playful summer jam, that was completed with D'wante Navire's immaculately chill production.

When talking inspiration, Cheryll tapped into the feeling of having a crush which brought the track to life. Lauren Marshall came up with the concept of a crush during a writing session and Cheryll ran with it.

"I thought about all the times that I’ve crushed on someone and how I felt. This is what I wanted to portray through the song in a fun and cheeky way" - Cheryll.

Add a sampled dash of Gangsta Lovin' from the dream team Eve and Alicia Keys and you're guaranteed to be Crushin' on Cheryll.

With a project in the works, the next few months are going to be busy for Cheryll as she'll be swooping the scene with her fresh'n'funky sound.

Keep Crushin' on your speakers by following the only playlist you need right now and follow IYC Music on instagram to stay in our music loop.

LONDON

"My mind’s in overdrive,
Been over it a thousand times,
I’ll make you my 9-5,
I’ll even work overtime,
Just to have you right by my side,
Please excuse me,
If I’m being too forward".

Sefa - Yes Yes Ya'll (Sione Toki)

24/9/2020

IYC is rocking alongside Sefa on his track Yes Yes Ya'll, featuring Sione Toki. Taken from his album, "Broken Records",
Sefa delivers an upbeat track with a transparent twist.

Producer Kidy Dany and Sefa seem to have mastered the right amount of steady flow + infectious bounce that continue's to pull you into their energetic sequence on Yes Yes Ya'll.

Put the catchiness of bounce aside, a look into the lyrical content written by Sefa reveal's his own experience with depression.
From being trapped in his own mind, he notes he will shine bright in life, not needing any diamonds. Prevailing at his finest despite how he is feeling at the time.

"This song is actually about depression. I wasn’t mentally feeling my best one day and decided to put that into words for a song.
I wanted to convey that if people felt the same way, they weren’t alone. I don’t know if many people caught on to that, but that’s where I wrote it from" - Sefa.

Sefa tell's his story using Hip Hop as a mechanism.
Which is a great reminder of why this genre is still deeply valued, even if this isn't currently reflected on the music charts.

"I think we all battle with depression in some form or another and it’s easy to feel like you’re on your own, I wanted this track to let people know that isn’t the case and I’m with them" - Sefa.

If this is the first time you are hearing about rapper Sefa,
you have a bit of catching up to do as he has just released a brand new album titled, "Good Company".

Squid the Kid - Lazy

16/9/2020

Feel like chilling? Staying in bed all day? Procrastinating maybe?
Well, we have a song for you that will encourage your day of doing fuck all (excuse our French), provided to you by Melbourne artist Squid the Kid with his track Lazy.

Despite the given, Lazy delivers a high vibing, not a care in the world, mellow type of feel that you can definitely play while being productive.
Go figure aye?!

Written by Squid the Kid and produced by his boy Daniel Antonio, Squid rides out the beat like a dawn surfer in Honolulu.
His flow acts as the surfboard while the waves acts as the beat magic from Antonio's production.

"Initially I wrote this track because I was literally just lazy one day and I was vibing out to the beat that Daniel made.
This global pandemic has forced us all to somewhat put a pause on our normal lives, and for the first time we have been asked to stay at home, and I know for a lot of people this could have broken up their daily routine which leads to fatigue and laziness. It was just the perfect time to release this song, especially with Melbourne going to a stage 4 lockdown" - Squid The Kid.

Take it to the bridge at three minutes and 4 seconds and you have your new anthem for the rest of the year. Squid takes it in his stride when it comes to his delivery of rhymes that most can relate to.

The rest of 2020 promises a couple more music release's from Squid the Kid and hopefully more entertaining videos can follow.
Keep Squid the Kid on replay for your Lazy days, and be sure to follow the IYC Music playlist.

MELBOURNE

I Couldn’t Give a damn,
I couldn’t care less,
Tryna make it big,

Tryna be the best,
Don’t think I'll make it with this attitude,
Chilling in my bed,
No power moves".

Noah Vernon - Rocketship

10/9/2020

Whether you're heading into a Southern Hemisphere Spring or Northern Hemisphere Fall, Noah Vernon is here with 2 minutes and 55 seconds worth of comforting positivity for each season with his newest single, Rocketship.

Flaunting a sweet innocence carried by easing acoustics that take off in composed tones, Noah Vernon paints a love letter that captures the essence of summer time and finding a love beyond the universe.
Add Burn City producer a2k into the mix and the end result is atmospheric.

Coming at a time where writer's block was at play, Noah and his guitar caught a break and birthed this gem of love.

"This one is special, it’s more then just about being in love!
It’s about how that person or special someone can make you feel good and strong to the point where you can conquer your fears (I’m actually scared of getting lost in space), but they make you feel like you can do anything" - Noah Vernon.

Noah Vernon provides a comfort that is out of this world, mentally transporting you through the love realm in Rocketship.

Using his time in isolation to write more music, Noah has a couple of upcoming projects that are yet to be released - y'all better watch this space!

In the meantime while we wait for Noah's next drop, head over to the IYC music playlist on Spotify to listen to Rocketship and if you cannot get enough of Noah, give his track "Lately" a spin.

Ya'll better press play and get ready for the ride of nostalgia that you are about to embark on with N.E.E.Z.Y and his brand new single "Different Feel".

Taking on a different genre since his last music drop,
N.E.E.Z.Y is honestly flexing at this point with his ability to flaunt his versatility, and production skills (N.E.E.Z.Y mix and mastered this one).

Sampling R'N'B singer Lloyd's track You,
N.E.E.Z.Y has taken a classic and added a whole "Different Feel" with his silky deep melodies that float over an outpouring of emotional depth.

"When I first heard the beat, I thought it would be amazing to create a brand new song, I wanted to tell a different story while still keeping that R'N'B vibe, and add a deeper connection to it through thoughts and emotions" - N.E.E.Z.Y.

"Different Feel" is the resurrection of a classic that has been dipped in new school drip, and rejuvenated in N.E.E.Z.Y's energy that we know and love, all while still maintaining the original charm that R'N'B lovers live for. Fellas, if you want extra points this season, get your dedications going with this one.

MELBOURNE

"Always down was my rider,
Never had to show me I knew it was inside ya, Always on the up when I called on the phone,
Never all alone strong woman on her own,
Always call me back whenever I couldn’t reach her, Her voice kept me calm as a listen to the speakers, That was way back before I hit a roadblock".
