Nomad - Testing

26/2/2020

MELBOURNE, AUS

Mic check 1-2, 1-2.
Okay, let's get this one thing clear, Nomad has been working more than anybody else this year, and that's F.A.C.T.S. Get your speakers ready because Nomad is back and ready to educate over the bass of his new joint, Testing, produced by IconicBeats.

Nomad and IconicBeats own the Burn City music hustle, which is evident in all the work they have put in from previous years to now. IYCM predicts that it will be a while for the competition (if any) to catch up, especially with Nomad's constant versatility.

The intention of Testing was to make known what Nomad and IconicBeats already know, "which is the fact they've been working so fucking hard on their shit, and they're about to be a problem for everyone".
**Bring ALLLLLL the smoke**

As IYCM has stated before, these two are an absolute force to be reckoned with. Nomad continues to swim against the current trends and create his own river through his confident flow and energetic, lyrical delivery, giving the listener a break from the over-consumed sound of mumbling.
Once again, Nomad and Iconicbeats provide the goods with refreshments. It should come as no surprise to our readers that one of Nomad's biggest inspirations is J.Cole.

"His ability to tell stories and use his lyrics to shed light on issues plaguing society" encouraged Nomad to use music as a talking point to educate. Drawn to music at a young age, Nomad had difficulty communicating his feelings and used to internalise many emotions. "Music makes things easier to explain, and feelings get conveyed much clearer, even if it’s just me realising what I’m feeling."

The future ahead is blazing bright for Nomad with his focus on completing the album, The Nomadic, and "building up content related to it, so we can drop that muthaf*cka and share it with the world!".
So go run up the numbers on Testing, which is available on all streaming sites now.

Phreshkyd - Sheesh

20/2/2020

NASHVILLE, TN

Coming through with the Sheessshhhhh, you know wtf going on with this week's artist and producer, PhreshKyd, who reps the city that raised him (Cincinnati) and the city that elevated him (Nashville).

PhreshKyd "didn't have the funds to pay for the original beat on Sheesh, so he rolled up his sleeves and made magic happen while also writing the track". Sheesh focuses on getting back into the zone and getting back on track while introducing the rest of the world to his Southern trill, Cincinnati funk-type flow.

"The placement on this album (titled from me to me) further conveys that particular message since it’s right after a song that expresses his feelings of discouragement about his overall music journey".

Many artists on the come up lack support and face feelings of discouragement from time to time, which is why he released this upbeat track to remind artists to keep pushing because what matters the most is jumping back into the grind.

Your time will come, **stay resilient**.
Inspired by Big KRIT, TI, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Key Wane, Kenny Beats, and Bootsy Collins, these artists are the reason he gets back into the zone and brings it all the way home.

At 14, he performed at summer camp, and the camp counsellors loved it so much that he could perform at the end-of-the-year celebration. Since this experience, he has kept going, and up to now, Phreshkyd has loved every step of the process regarding recording, making beats and performing, and has no plan on stopping.

"It's truly a passion of mine."
So from the 513 to the 615 to down under, stay focused, stay resilient, share your story and say SHEESH to the noise. Watch out for Phreshkyd's music videos, and be sure to follow him on Instagram (@phreshkyd_) to keep up to date with his performances around the 615 and outside the city.

Lauren McClinton - Rush

13/2/2020

NASHVILLE, TN

Let Laurenn McClinton lay with you, stay with you, vibe with you, and ride with you this Valentine’s Day with her sweeter than sugar track Rush, from her recently released EP, Dawn.

Penned by Lauren McClinton and produced by her significant other, A.B Eastwood (@a.b.eastwood), Lauren explores the dating styles that we all seem to be drawn to.

"Particularly the talking stage, where it’s obvious that two people want to be with each other but one or both of them are too afraid to commit. Instead of following their heart and feeling that rush they get when they’re with each other, they’d rather do relationship things without the value of commitment due to a deep-rooted fear". - Lauren McClinton

Rush radiates love; it's about vulnerability, honesty, acknowledging your emotions for someone, and fighting the urge to run away when you feel exposed. It runs deep, and that depth is met with vocal lightness in Lauren's soothing whisper; she knows "you feel that rush." These emotions exude an uncertainty in the situation between the two individuals; they reveal one counterpart's ready to dive in approach and expose the mental conflict within the other; there's a subtle resistance in the beginning when it comes to taking a leap of faith.

Lauren McClinton beautifully demonstrates the soft dance between two potential lovers, it's intense when one realises their connection to the other. Her gentle, resonant tone reveals patience, consideration, and elements of unconditional love.

Singing since the sweet age of 2, Lauren McClinton found love within songwriting, poetry, and short stories. Her aesthetic can be heard through her musical inspirations, Brian McKnight, Toni Braxton, Brandy, Frank Ocean, and H.E.R.

So what are you waiting for? Take a leap of faith this Valentine's Day and allow yourself to feel that rush! Do you want to be the person who suppresses their emotions or the one who takes a chance? Whatever you choose, enjoy our musical gift of Lauren McClinton, and stream Rush, link below!

JYOU - Survivor

6/2/2020

NASHVILLE, TN

And when I make it out of this, you can't tell me nothing.
YOU CAN’T TELL ME NOTHING!

Jyou came in strong and ready for blood along with K.O.N and Jon noir with their lyrically abundant track Survivor.

"You would probably go insane if you would see through my eyes, wondering why I'm pushing life when I know everyone dies; man, it's hard to see the reality through the deceit and the lies. You never know how to live when you tryna survive.”

Did y'all feel the lyrical tithing and wisdom hit your ears in Survivor as IYCM did?
Flow, delivery, clarity and lyrical intelligence are all found in Survivor and brilliantly executed throughout the track. Honestly, load the gun to make it easier for everyone ...because these three came to take out their competition.

Survivor is produced by Coleman Suttom (@mixedbycole) and came together while Jyou and Cole were in the studio. Cole played the beat, and that was that, Jyou instantly fell in love.
"Next thing you know, the song basically wrote itself".

Jyou was brought into music as it was an outlet for him. Coming from a city known for music, Jyou grew up in Nashville - North Nashville, to be exact, and his experiences in life are what shaped his lyrical library. Music is universal and a place to open up and "express your feelings in unconventional ways where people relate to them".
This is what makes you feel more connected with the world. It connects one heartbeat to the other, and Jyou uses his voice to deliver one inferno of a message so listen very closely.

Follow Jyou on Instagram (@ace25young) and stream Survivor by Jyou, K.O.N and Jon Noir on Spotify now.

FFXRK - Pretend to You

2/2/2020

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

FFXRK (Pronounced ‘Double Effects, Recognise Knowledge’) has returned with a fresh new drop "Pretend to You" featuring Zuhair.

Following a storyline that started off with FFXRK's first release with his track 'Treated Bad,' which painted a picture of the abuse a woman experienced from the man she cheated with, and the second release 'Forget Him' which showed the actions of forgiveness and acceptance by FFXRK. Pretend to You extends the narrative.

Written by FFXRK, the emotion of sorrow, uncertainty, and ignorance plays a heavy in the foundation of Pretend to You.

Pretend to You is about "being stuck between two types of commitment. To continue on with the fairy tale of unconditional love or to pursue the ultimate desire of inspiring the world through creative innovation with music and arts?".

Sealed by Zuhair gently echoing, "pause, girl, can we take it slowly? You know me - but you don't really know me" - we witness the artist slowly distancing himself from the situation and translating his thoughts and emotions into his music.

Overall, continuing the narrative of a turbulent relationship, Pretend to You ultimately closes off by proving there is light at the end of the tunnel. Still, the question is, how long will it last?

Pretend to You is out now exclusively on Spotify.
