Andre Jemal - The Vibe

26/3/2020

MELBOURNE, AUS

Andre Jemal came through with his summer vibin' track "The Vibe" just in time for the northern hemisphere's heat wave.

Andre is heard rapping about living carefree and celebrating life every single day with his trance-like flow over an ambient house
beat produced by Pendo46.

Written by Andre Jemal, 'The Vibe' has the ability to take the listener on a mental road trip that consists of a never-ending daydream, leaving a smile on one's face, even in the midst of the current global chaos.

"It's about living out a dream and making it a lifestyle, doing it every night. The message comes from one line in the track,'If you don't give your all how will you ever know', while also just being a feel good summer anthem. I want people to just feel good when they hear this track. Nothing else really matters. You don't have to analyze my lyrics or even understand what I'm saying. Just have a good time." - Andre Jemal

Drawn to music by the culture Andre grew up in, he ultimately pursued music as he was " hoping other people could relate to my words and story as much as I did with other artists growing up and currently".

One particular artist that has been an inspiration growing up and currently is Wiz Khalifa, for the reason that he is "unapologetically himself and his work ethic is like no other".

With endless amounts of releases coming this year, that would see new music released at least once or twice a month.

Andre has had to go back to the drawing board regarding his plan due to the recent occurring pandemic however, be sure to follow Andre Jemal (@andrejemal) on Instagram to stay in the loop of all his upcoming releases, and go on a mental adventure by streaming The Vibe via the
In Your City Music playlist on Spotify.

CD - Me Too

19/3/2020

MELBOURNE, AUS

IYCM wishes CD would whisk us far away on a fluffy cloud that's made out of her dreamy vocals for a week or two; however, until this fantasy comes to light, we will continue to indulge in said dreamy vocals that were delivered on her newly released single 'Me too'.

Produced by well-known Burn City producer Eleftherios, and written by CD, who was accompanied by her piano, Me too is a decadently layered piece of work that exposes matters of the heart, enveloped in angelic notes of melancholy and displeasure towards a lover who appears to be too wrapped up in themselves.

With Samuel Cox on the guitar, Michael Cooper on the keys, Gene du Vergier on the drums and Lao, who also provided vocals, the listener is invited to follow the narrative by the tone of each element that's been incorporated.

"When I first came up with the chords for this song with my piano teacher, I told myself I had to write one of my best songs using them because I was so in love with how they sounded, and I wanted it to be something I could play live all the time. I wrote the song out of pure emotion and intended to make a catchy song that people would enjoy listening to. When I decided I wanted to release the song a couple of months ago, we went back in and made numerous alterations to the production with live instruments and adding new sections. It was important to do that, so it didn't represent me as an artist two years ago, but it represented who I am now. I want my music to be as honest and representative of me as possible." - CD

Growing up, CD watched music videos on MTV and jammed with her parents in the car to old-school R&B, Rap and Hip Hop music.

"My whole family has always loved music." - CD

Her first singing lesson was roughly around the age of 5, which was followed by dancing lessons, and a few years later, she began her piano lessons.  The time invested in music has definitely contributed to the well roundness she presents as an artist. When diving into who has inspired CD currently and through the years, artists such as Erykah Badu, SZA, D'Angelo, Beyonce, Solange, Sade, Lauryn Hill, JMSN and Frank Ocean have all played a part in her journey.

"I'm also super inspired by the local artists in Burn City who are currently making waves and showing us all that anything is possible." - CD

Even though 2020 has come to a halt, there is an abundance in store for CD this year, with further music releases expected on the horizon, including collaborative projects, and by the end of the year, she aims to make her mark.
Be sure to stream Me too by CD on our In Your City Music playlist on Spotify and follow CD on the gram to stay updated with her releases (play_cd).

XENO - No Dramas

15/3/2020

MELBOURNE, AUS

First off, the North-side of Burn city don't want no dramas. They want the commas, which is apparent in XENO's hype new release featuring the north-side R&B prince Adrian Swish and sweet yet feisty rapper Mirna.
Produced by Thaibeats, the hook was written by Adrian Swish, and XENO  (Jdro & ALPY) and Mirna all penned their own verses where they were able to execute their own flair and flaunt their individualism.
No Dramas is a track that aims to uplift the energy in a room and provide good vibes for all party people.

"Drama brings negativity into a human’s life. We want listeners to understand that anything is possible if you focus your energy and time on avoiding dramas and problems and focus solely on your passion. We want people to have the mindset to achieve their goals in life without taking on drama or negativity, and we want them to do what they love while having fun and adding those commas. - XENO

From the beginning, music has been an escape for the duo XENO, specifically ALPY, who escaped many of his dark thoughts through music.

"Being able to relate to the music I was listening to helped me push through my negative thoughts and taught me to always look at the positive aspects of negative situations and always stay positive.  I want to help my listeners the way other artists’ music helped me growing up. - ALPY

Surrounded by music since birth, JDro naturally formed an interest towards it.

"I grew up with music around me. The country of Fiji is musical, so I was exposed to it at a very young age. I grew up wanting to be two things, either a pilot or a musician. I figured out early that I didn’t have the brain for being a pilot, but if I were a good enough musician, I’d be able to fly constantly." - J DRO

XENO's inspiration comes from numerous artists such as Craig David and Kennyon Brown; however, their Burn City peers have contributed significantly to their inspiration.

"Burn City is on a whole different level right now. We are inspired by the many male and female talents that showcase the multicultural population of our city, such as N.E.E.Z.Y, Earl, Adrian Swish, Bitner Brown, Mirna, Kirrah Amosa, Melissa Kate, r.em.edy, the boys from Day Hunnid, Hudson Taylor, Drank Water crew, Rydah, Menza and Akido to name a few".

Starting in April, XENO will be dropping two tracks per month so stay updated by following their Instagram (@xenomusicofficial) and stream No Dramas via the In Your City Music playlist on Spotify.

John Tucker - The Ways (Remix - Lauren McClinton)

12/3/2020

COLUMBUS, OHIO

Since hearing The Ways (remix), IYCM cannot get John Tucker out of their head. Partnering with Lauren McClinton on the remix, both artists expose the inner dialogue of loss and bring it to the surface, where it is smoothly vocalised over a soft Reggaeton-inspired tempo.

The echos of sadness and the buoyant tempo produced and mixed by John Tucker, provide a focal point of the complexities experienced after a loss of a relationship and the burden of lingering feelings, which is demonstrated perfectly through John Tucker and Lauren McClinton's ability to explore the introspective emotions identified through their songwriting.

"Losing someone you love sucks, and sometimes you just wanna tell them how bad it sucks, but you can’t. That’s what this is about. Whether that be romantic, platonic, or family." - John Tucker

The Ways (remix) dives into "the thoughts that come to mind after the break up has happened, along with all of the regrets. That’s when the wondering starts to set in, like what could’ve been?".

"Loss is one of the most common feelings we experience as humans, next to love itself. So I hope people can relate and hear a voice that understands what they’re going through and maybe feel some comfort. But it’s also a super fun, upbeat track for the club, where you can dance your heartbreak away." - John Tucker

Since his early childhood, John Tucker has been immersed in the music scene, which began at his family Church in his home state, Columbus, Ohio. Leading praise and worship alongside his uncle, he eventually took a leap of faith and decided to use his gift for the world.

Through this experience, he found his current home base in Nashville, TN, where he was able to develop as an artist through his collaborations with other artists, and the nourishing community Nashville provides.

Currently inspired by Solange, he explains how her last two projects impacted him in two different ways. "The consensus is that I can be black and weird in my music and that it’s okay. It helps to know that there is an audience out there for music and minds like mine".

With that being said, John aims to collaborate with Jhené Aiko, SZA and Skip Marley and plans to release more music which will ultimately lead up to his *debut EP* and a live show in Nashville

So to our readers in the Ville, stay tuned and be sure to follow the socials and stay in the loop with John Tucker.

Sin Santos - Kick Back

5/3/2020

MELBOURNE, AU

Sin Santos got little time to waste with the chit-chat, and man does it show on his track Kick Back featuring J.B.T.

Kick back is the track you keep on replay while driving to work to get you through the week ahead and preserve the momentum. Produced by beatsbyalexx, the layers of energy within the track are completed with the *time is money* delivery produced by Sin Santos and J.B.T in their verses.

"My main focus for the song was to promote my hustle and motivate people to do the same with whatever they are into. That, and a sprinkle of flex to top it off." - Sin Santos

Sin Santos and J.B.T depict the constant grind with their quick-to-catch flow, guaranteed to get you in the zone.
His aim was to push the message of chasing what you want.

"Go chase it. Whatever you wanna do, give it your all and keep pushing, life is way too short to be mediocre. Aim to be great." - Sin Santos

Drawn to music because of its powerful nature, Sin expresses that he started creating music because of its "ability to make you feel things. Music is powerful, and I don't know what I’d do without it".

With Burn City and the Philippines in his sight, Sin Santos has a plan to connect the two and cover all bases around the world, which is evident in his upcoming moves.

With no time to waste and kick back, Sin Santos has a busy month ahead with his new release on the 13th of March called Frenzy featuring Adrian Swish, Andre Jemal and Sxint P, and a performance at the Lowrider Melbourne car and bike show which will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on the 4th of April.

So amid the grind, be sure to live a little and cop a ticket for the show if your home base is in Melbourne, and hit up the In Your City Music playlist to listen to Kick back by Sin Santos (@sin.santos) featuring J.B.T (@capital_jbt_).
