Burn City is buzzing with talented artists that are being slept on and we are here to remind you about the dope artists that are emerging, particularly Jo Jodun with her single "Circles".
Channeling airy Sabrina Claudio feels, Jo Jodun delivers an R&B sweetness over a melodic drill type beat, that oozes with emotional relatability about a frustrating situationship that seems to be caught up in circles.
Proving to be nothing less than a triple threat, Jo Jodun wrote, produced and mix+mastered Circles.
"I wrote circles after a summer fling had ended and I was looking for some closure. Those chords are deeply melodic and emotional. The demo was recorded on my voice memos and I just sat on it for months. I never really intended on making a “drill” type beat but there was something about it that just slapped" - Jo Jodun.
Pulling you in with the warmth of her vocals, Jo Jodun unapologetically dunks you head first into an emotional battlefield, as she dips back and fourth between feeling detached and completely immersed within the situation.
If you can't get enough of Jo Jodun just like us here at IYC Music, then we have some great news as Jo has an EP in the works, set to drop later in the year.
If you can't hold out until then, don't even trip because Jo has a couple of singles lined up for release, and will potentially feature on a couple of tracks with some very talented artists.
