"This process was about learning how to release. For me it was guilt and sorrow at the time.
Being a prisoner of the past, especially when it comes to your own wrongdoings, it weighs on you.
It’s easy to take on life’s baggage on a day to day and a week to week basis, but when it’s time to look in the mirror and address it to let go? That’s when the difficulties come and this track represents my state of mind during that process" - Qualls.
The thing with 500 to Exhale, it's one of those tracks that give off a different vibe every time you listen. At first it feels like a block party jam, until Qualls unravels his story and reveals an extra dose of substance. Fast forward to the second play and Clint's production is reinvented due to a new perspective gained through Qualls songwriting.
It's mutable, flowing, transforming itself like a mood ring. A sequence of magic.
"Around that time I was going though somewhat of a burnout creatively. As a producer sometimes it’s easy to box yourself into what’s hot, chasing after popular trends instead of just making great music. I took some time to myself, and ironically it was like I had a chance to actually breathe and recharge. Exhale was one of the first tracks that I had made after this moment of rest. The overall beat just sounded refreshing to me. The record was definitely influenced by the ability to just create. Create what sounds great to you, fall into your own sound and let things grow out of that - Clint Ford.
Qualls will be bringing this project to life visually in a "multitude of unique ways" which is why he needs to stay on your radar. Keep up to date with Qualls through social media, and add 500 to Exhale to your rotation!!!
